Hard Know News: Creativity, Productivity, and Trying New Stuff

Jessica Modad | JUN 6, 2024

It's Wednesday, so maybe you're ready to kick your routine into high gear, or to the curb or sprinkle a little spice onto your weekday?

If so, you're in luck because this week, I'm diving head first into the world of "trying new stuff." I was inspired by Tabitha Brown's new book, I Did A New Thing.

You can hear more about my experience on episode 19 of the Hard Know Show titled "Embrace New Things." It's all about the power of stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying something different.

Whether it's picking up a new hobby, exploring a new neighborhood, or simply trying a new food, it's easier than you think to breathe new life into your daily grind.

Did you know???

You can shake up your routine and boost productivity– By introducing a little fun into your daily routine, you stimulate your brain and reignite your motivation. Whether it's learning a new skill or exploring a different approach to problem-solving, stepping out of your comfort zone can reinvigorate your workflow and help you accomplish more in less time.

You can unleash your inner artist– Creativity thrives in environments that encourage experimentation and exploration. Trying new activities exposes you to fresh perspectives, sparking innovative ideas and solutions (Don't believe me, check out my watercolor painting of the duck above). Doesn't matter if you're attending a workshop, visiting a museum, or simply getting yourself in nature, each new experience expands your imagination.

You can wave goodbye to stress (sometimes)– Let's face it, stress is an unavoidable part of life. However, trying new activities is a proactive way to help you stay centered. Engaging in activities that bring you joy and excitement not only distracts you from your worries but also helps you develop healthier coping skills. Whether it's dancing, painting, or practicing mindfulness, finding activities that resonate with you can reduce stress levels and promote overall well-being.

You don't have to figure it out alone– I have dedicated office hours to discuss all things, work or wellness AND programs for organizations that want to bring more wellness into the office both in person and online.  Check out my topics or simply connect me to the person in your office responsible for employe wellness programing.

Now, you're up... what new thing are you going to try?

I can't wait to hear from you!
